Information and Performance Reporting Manager

FirstGroup plc operates the TransPennine Express (TPE) railway franchise on behalf of the Department for Transport. The arrangements for this are contracted in an Emergency Recovery Measures Agreement (ERMA) which was put in place to ensure customers could continue to rely on rail travel during the COVID-19 pandemic. To ensure the highest levels of performance and customer experience, the ERMA features an assessment and scorecard mechanism which requires ongoing reporting of our activity and performance across strategically important areas of the business.
As the company's Information and Performance Reporting Manager, you will primarily be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the ERMA assessment and scorecard process. Through identifying, collating and presenting compelling evidence, you will be responsible for giving TPE the best chance of achieving maximum scores over the term of the contract.

Who are we looking for?

•You will be proactive in identifying any areas for improvement in TPE's evidence and/or business processes. You will work with colleagues right across the business to improve business processes, recording the steps taken to improve and monitoring the delivery of benefits.

•You will ensure evidence is complete, of the highest quality, and submitted in a timely manner for each of the scorecard areas, while being properly stored and documented in a system accessed by both TPE and Rail North Partnership, our contract client body.

•You will be comfortable working with colleagues at all levels and across all departments in a pressured environment and will be capable of producing high-quality, comprehensive reports which will be provided to TPE's Executive and to FirstGroup.

•You will be a champion for the ERMA scorecard process, which you will own and refine throughout the lifetime of the ERMA and through any comparable process in future contracts. You will reach out to all corners of the business to ensure that all colleagues, both frontline and HQ, understand what is required of them to maximise TPE's scores in the assessment process. You will identify areas for improvement and make suggestions and recommendations on activity which would drive better performance which can be measured and will therefore secure higher results in the scorecard.

•TPE's Franchise Management team is a small and very busy organisation. In addition to the above primary responsibilities, you will also support the team in other activity that supports management of the ERMA and the relationship with Rail North Partnership. Such activity may include, but will likely not be limited to, other business reporting, correspondence management, contract system management and providing coordination support to specific projects as they arise.

What are the essentials of the job?

•Concise, compelling and unambiguous report structuring and writing
•Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
•Analytical skills and ability to apply analysis into compelling presentation of information
•Tenacity, strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise own workload
•Stakeholder management and proven ability to build rapport and meaningful relationships, and using those to influence outcomes
•Confidence in challenging processes and standards, and a proven ability to establish new ways and drive change
