Driver Manager (8476)

Driver Operations / People Manager at Glasgow
Salary: £55,400 pa

A strong and effective people manager?

We love the North. It's a vibrant, thriving place where there's more happening than ever before. To connect communities, people and cities, we will transform the TransPennine Express franchise. It will offer faster, easier journeys and a step change in rail services: an InterCity of the North, if you will. With over £500m earmarked for investment (for instance, more seats and high-tech trains), we're all set to take the North further, expanding links and the economy. There's just one thing missing – YOU…

This is a highly demanding role directly responsible for all aspects of effective people management including; employee engagement, reward and recognition, absence management, disciplines and grievances, holding management briefings and  building effective partnerships with union representatives to resolve local matters.

You'll be responsible for meeting business targets related to safety, train service performance and attendance. You'll also push for continuous improvement in employee and customer satisfaction levels ensuring Trans Pennine Express deliver excellence in all that we do.

To effectively support the needs of your team and our customers you'll form part of an ‘on-call' rota and have to work some late nights and weekends. To support you with the flexibility and commitment required for the role you'll receive an iPad mini, Smart Phone and laptop.

 About you

You're an exceptional people manager, skilled in motivating and inspiring people to perform at their best. You're a natural communicator and are confident in one-to-one and large team meetings. You find it easy to build good working relationships and are considered as approachable and trust worthy. You're skilled in positively influencing the behaviours of others and you think logically when faced with difficult situations. You're passionate about setting the highest standards and place challenge appropriately, leading change with innovation and creativity. Experience of working within a Unionised and/ or regulated and safety conscious environment would be desirable.

Due to the on call commitment of this role and the safety critical environment of rail you'll need to have a UK road driving license and meet our medical requirements including adherence to a strict drugs policy.

To say thank you for all your hard work, we offer competitive salaries and some great rewards. There's a final salary pension scheme, discretionary bonus scheme and big savings on rail travel: free TransPennine Express journeys for you and free leisure journeys for your family. You and your family can also get discounts with other train operating companies. Your job comes with plenty of holiday as well as all kinds of benefits: childcare vouchers, discounts and even a Cycle to Work scheme.

Help take The North further.

Please ensure, when applying, you upload your CV and a covering letter to support your application.
