Commercial Business Analyst (9639)

Commercial Business Analyst

Manchester, North West

Your insights can help decide which direction our rail franchise takes

We love the North. It's a vibrant, thriving place where there's more happening than ever before. To connect communities, people and cities, we will transform the TransPennine Express franchise. It will offer faster, easier journeys and a step change in rail services: an InterCity of the North, if you will. With over £500m of investment to deliver (including 44 new intercity trains), we're all set to take the North further, expanding links and the economy. There's just one thing missing – you.

As our Commercial Business Analyst, your role is critical to understanding TPE's customers; where and when they travel, what tickets they are using, how much they are paying and why they are travelling. Finding and understanding the answers to these questions is crucial for the company to evaluate its success and continue to grow our market. With a strong focus on revenue and demand analysis, the successful applicant will provide regular reports and management information to inform tactical and strategic commercial decision making.

Evaluating the success of marketing campaigns and ticketing promotions provides essential insight into the best methods for attracting new customers. Forecasting passenger demand and revenue, as well as appraising future timetable options is a vital aspect to the role. You will be expected to advise and influence business development cases with the knowledge you build and have accountability for producing information for key stakeholders. The role provides great variety and gives opportunities to get involved in shaping the exciting growth of rail travel in the North of England.

With a degree (or equivalent) in a Business or Analytical discipline, you'll be an organised, approachable and reliable professional. You will be highly analytical with great attention to detail, and have the ability to identify significant trends and variances to forecast.   Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to convey key information to colleagues and third party stakeholders. You will have experience of working within a commercial organisation, preferably in a role involving commercial and retail analysis. Your IT skills are proficient, covering Word and Excel, with the aptitude to quickly learn how to use bespoke industry systems. You'll also have a good understanding of the rail and transport industries, ideally covering TPE geography and operations.

To say thank you for all your hard work, we offer competitive salaries and some great rewards. There's a final salary pension scheme, discretionary bonus scheme and big savings on rail travel: free TransPennine Express journeys for you and free leisure journeys for your family. You and your family can also get discounts with other train operating companies. Your job comes with plenty of holiday as well as all kinds of benefits: childcare vouchers, discounts and even a Cycle to Work scheme.

Help take the north further.
