Accident & Incident Data Co-ordinator

Main Purpose

 To undertake daily the collection, collation, monitoring and follow up of accident and incident information for all departments within South Western Railway.  A good understanding of Health & Safety Legislation, the post holder will input to the safety management systems.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Assist with the production of safety performance report
  • Assist with the development of effective systems for the collection, collation and storage of safety data
  • Help Maintain the Safety Database SMIS and other Safety databases
  • Help produce Daily and weekly reports for the Safety Directors.
  • Support enhancing and improving processes and procedures to reduce manual intervention 
  • Provide ad hoc information on Safety Incidents and Accidents to Head of Safety
  • Proactively develop and maintain relationships with key contacts internally and externally to the business
  • Provide support to the Safety Performance Manager 
  • Monitor and collate information in relation to South Western Railway Drugs and Alcohol Policy, Route Crime Environmental issues for inclusions in management reports as necessary.
  • Provide Clerical support including managing and taking minutes for Safety meetings when directed.
  • Provide role continuity arrangements of the section undertaking duties of other members of the team as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • A good knowledge & experience of railway activities would be advantageous
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word & PowerPoint 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills and able to manage multiple competing/concurrent deadlines 
  • Takes initiative and demonstrates a focused desire to drive improvements 
  • Possesses a high attention to detail 
  • Self-motivated and results oriented 
  • Able to work well both in a collaborative team environment and independently
  • A recognised Safety management qualification (NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent) would be advantageous

Working Pattern

Working on average 37 hours per week.

Monday - Friday business hours.
