Senior Change Leader

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Change Leader to join our team. The location is flexible, but please be aware that this position requires a high degree of travel / living away potentially. This would be on a 4 month fixed term contract.

As a Senior Engineering Change Leader you will Manage and organise multifunctional change teams to guide the regional roll out of an Engineering Management System (EMS) to transform our approach to maintenance, deliver step change in efficiency and ultimately improve the customer offering and business sustainability. 

The EMS will create a standardized way of working across all maintenance locations within First Bus enabling us to bring a range of best practices together.

The Senior Change Leader will guide and manage several remote change teams to deliver tactical implementation plans at multiple locations in parallel. The Senior Change Leader will also work closely with the senior leadership within local operating companies to ensure benefit realisation is achieved.

In addition to refining the change programme framework to overcome problems or barriers to success, the Senior Change Leader will organise and ensure the delivery of quality EMS training to local management teams and ensure the change teams are then proactively supporting local management with EMS implementation. The Senior Change Leader will also ensure consistency of approach and step in to support and/or cover change team members as necessary to achieve rollout milestones.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensuring full understanding, refinement and delivery of a regionalized rollout plan for transformation of multiple locations in parallel.
  • Organise, support and manage multiple teams of Change Leaders/Agents to ensure they are clear on the purpose, goals and process of the change plan and are fully supported in progressing it.
  • Recruitment and selection of new Change Leaders/Agents as necessary.
  • Refine and adapt training programme content for local management teams in response to local nuances.
  • Ensure Tactical Implementation Plans are developed for each location and successfully implemented
  • Ensure benefit realization targets are achieved through engagement with senior leadership teams at operating company level, prior to, during and after the transformations.
  • Organise forums and meetings to resolve problems and provide feedback and updates; sharing best practice, removal of barriers and other concerns within the wider team.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable record of achievements showing delivery of transformational change or sustained improvement, ideally (but not essentially) within a maintenance or engineering environment.
  • Ability to connect with staff members at all levels, with previous experience of regular engagement at senior leadership/director level.
  • Experience working in a complex operating environment and being able to guide and influence others and role modelling positive behaviours.
  • A strong communicator, who is comfortable conducting meetings and running training sessions, who is able to question and influence thinking of experienced colleagues to deliver transformational change
  • Well organised and experienced problem solver, who is open minded to new ideas and able to question and influence thinking of experienced colleagues' resistant to change to deliver transformational change.
  • Highly motivated and results-driven with a strong ability to get into the detail when necessary.
  • An effective leader who is wholly committed to working with and supporting colleagues to achieve success
