Payroll Supervisor

About the team:

The payroll team are based in Bristol Temple Meads, the team are responsible for the production of weekly and four weekly payroll for GWR, TPE, Hull and FRH. The team process all payroll staff changes and are responsible for providing management and colleagues with payroll related reports and information.

About the job:

This position supports the payroll function of GWR, it is responsible for both processing payroll data and provide day-to-day support and reports to the team and support functions. To deliver a high quality payroll service to GWR and other First Group company payroll services provided by GWR

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Responsible for collating, reviewing and amending payroll data from various time and attendance systems. Importing data into the payroll systems, ensuring that all interfaces are compliant.
  • Support the payroll team; this will include checking their work and cover as and when required.
  • Provide support to the Payroll management team to ensure that weekly and four-weekly payroll is completed accurately and on-time.
  • Resolve payroll queries.
  • Provide ad-hoc support on group projects that impact Payroll.
  • Ensuring GDPR compliance for all data.
  • Ensuring compliance with the GWR delegated authority matrix.
  • Adhoc duties as when required.

You'll need to be:

  • Experienced in a large payroll department with varied complex terms and conditions.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of payroll; should be able to manually calculate PAYE and NI contributions where required and keep up to date with all Payroll legislation.
  • Positive approach to change
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Able to provide excellent customer service
  • Professional, confident and act with a high level of integrity at all times.

As a minimum you'll need to have:

  • Many years of payroll experience; ideally in a supervisory position.
  • Strong communication and people skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of payroll processes.
  • Knowledge of statutory payroll legislation.
  • Accurate and with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong system skills, including excel and ideally Cyborg

About the location:

The payroll office is located with in Bristol Temple Meads train station.

Working Pattern:

Monday to Friday – 9:00 – 16:30
