Payroll Administrator

About the team:

The GWR Payroll team are currently based in Bristol, the team are responsible for the production of weekly and four weekly payrolls for GWR as well as other First Group Train Operating Companies including Trans Pennine Express (TPE) and Hull Trains (Hull). The team process all payroll data and are the first point of contact in resolving payroll related queries from staff and external organisations.

 

About the job:

This position within the Payroll Administration team supports the Payroll function of GWR to help to ensure delivery of both weekly and four weekly payrolls across GWR, TPE and Hull. Responsible for processing of high-volume payroll time and attendance data, providing day-to-day support and reporting to customers and Managers. The role requires the flexibility to work across all payrolls to ensure a high-quality payroll service is delivered to GWR and the other First Group entities.

 

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Responding to third party queries including safety claims, solicitor claims and referencing.
  • Processing of sick pay adjustments and allowances.
  • Checking and where required amending of the GWR HEx payroll output.
  • Providing support to other team members across the payroll function.
  • Facilitating reporting by other GWR functions
  • Ensuring compliance with the delegated authorities matrix
  • Processing when required of out of payroll payments by Bacs and Chaps.
  • Answering payroll queries by email and telephone.

 

You'll need to be:

  • Experienced in working in a large payroll department and working to tight weekly deadlines.
  • Experienced in dealing with multiple sets of terms and conditions of employment within the same entity.
  • Proactive with a positive approach to all tasks.
  • Able to deliver excellent customer service on a consistent basis.
  • Professional, confident and act with a high level of integrity at all times.
  • Flexible to ensure the team is able to meet the needs of the business.
  • A strong team player, with a willingness to help others where required.

 

As a minimum you'll need to have:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience working within a payroll team.
  • An excellent knowledge of UK payroll related legislation.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A strong attention to detail and the ability to delivery accurate results.
  • Advanced excel skills.
  • Experience using Cyborg or another major payroll system.

 

About the location:

The Payroll function is currently located in Bristol.

 

Working Pattern:

Monday to Friday – Total of 35 hours

 

Additional Information:

  • There will be a requirement to work occasional weekends and Bank Holidays.
  • CIPP qualification or part qualification would be desirable.
