MOT Inspector

We are looking for an MOT Inspector to join our busy engineering team in Larbert!

As an MOT inspector you will be working closely with the Senior Vehicle Examiner`s you will support and maintain the delivery of effective and efficient vehicle examination.

You will achieve high standards of vehicle presentation ensuring that DVSA standards are met as a minimum.

The MOT Inspector will manage the Authorised Test Facility (ATF) bookings and maximise revenue in the absence of the Senior Vehicle Examiners.

The salary for this position is £26,000 per year and the working hours are 38 per week

What will you be doing?

  • Maintain MOT gated process recording, reporting and follow up on any non-compliance, to the Senior Vehicle Examiners
  • Assist in the development of Vehicle Examiners by identifying and highlighting any non-compliance to SOP's and working closely with Senior Vehicle Examiner.
  • Maintain the group MOT pass rate at 98%.
  • Ensure that the ATF facility meets all DVSA test lane standards at all times.
  • To coordinate, monitor and effectively control the allocation of scheduled DVSA inspections carried out on site, including MOT slots for external customers.
  • Provide guidance to other staff as required.
  • Maintain effective internal/external relationships.
  • Maintain an up to date understanding of the PSV Vehicle Testers Manual, The Categorisation of Defects Manual, The Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness and Technical Service Bulletins.

Skills & Experience

  • Level 3 NVQ qualification or equivalent (i.e. City & Guilds level 1 & 2). 
  • To be fully conversant with the safe operation of workshop equipment including, hydraulic vehicle lifts, pressurised oil and waste systems, battery chargers and starters, trolley jacks, scaffolding, pressure wash and automatic washing equipment, headlamp alignment tester, hydraulic jacks and testing equipment, drilling machine, torque wrenches, pedestal grinders and general portable equipment (i.e. air guns, drills, electric and pneumatic hand tools etc.) as required.
  • Current PSV Vehicle Examination Experience, SOP38 Trained or willing to attend training.
  • To have knowledge of the relevant legislations.
  • To have the necessary IT skills such as INFOR, MS 365 , email and internet.
  • Must be in the possession of, or capable of obtaining a full PCV licence and forklift truck licence if required.
