What are we looking for?

We are recruiting a Writer / Editor to join the First Rail Division. You will work with our businesses to understand their objectives and priorities. This will enable you to create a document from start to finish. You'll lead the physical presentation documents and source and shape the raw information. This is an ideal time to join the First Rail Division Policy & Consulting team, to gain exposure to a range of new opportunities. We offer a competitive salary plus bonuses. The role includes the option of flexible working from home. 

What will you do?:

  • Engage with businesses to understand their report objectives
  • Manage the report writing process through full lifecycle
  • Create document templates and source material 
  • Support teams to create seamless and meaningful copy
  • Create written and graphical material that is accessible and plain English
  • Present technical and complex content in an interesting way

What skills and experience will you need?

You will need to have an academic education to Master's level, or similar. Key skills include:

  • Excellent knowledge of grammar and applying house styles
  • Capacity to draft quickly and from scratch
  • Expert listener with excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Capability to structure documents and lead the storyboarding processes
  • Knowledge of working within a controlled project or programme environment
  • Consulting or rail bid experience is desirable
  • Experience with writing economic business cases and experience within government sector are desirable.
