IT Summer Intern – Group IT (8962)

We need talented people like you to join us to deliver digital IT solutions as well as protecting our business though our IT security solutions to meet the ever changing demands that our customers expect and place on us.

What does the role involve?

As an IT Intern, you'll join our Group IT team. Here you will get to interact with the Group IT team and other IT specialists located across the UK at various offices – Manchester, Leeds, Bristol and Aberdeen. You will also get the opportunity to interact with other senior specialists from across the Group including Finance, HR and Communications.

In our drive to become more digitally focused and maintaining high levels of digital security, you will report into the Programme Lead and Digital Product Owner where you will get to work on initiatives that ensures that the strategic and operational objectives of our organisation are met. There will be the opportunity for you to:

  • Understand our applications that support our customers as well our employees
  • Support with the introduction of new IT solutions
  • Be given the opportunity for your creativity and ideas around digital solutions to be shared with senior IT professionals including our Chief Information Officer.

Who are you looking for and what qualifications do I need?

We aren't strict with our entry criteria, there's only a few things we feel are essential to be successful in gaining a place as an IT Intern. You will need:

  • To be on track to achieve at least a 2:1 in any degree subject.
  • The passion, enthusiasm and curiosity to understand how the business operates and the ability to align yourself with the business goals and values.
  • To show potential strategic awareness with the ability to see the bigger picture .
  • The ability to build positive relationships and collaborate with your colleagues.
  • A real customer focus, ensuring best customer experience is at the heart of everything you do.
  • A focus on safety and the importance of ensuring safety for yourself, the customer and your colleagues.

Where will the role be located?

The role will be based at our Head offices in London Paddington or at our offices in Manchester and there maybe some travel involved around the UK.

What will I receive in terms of development?

As well as a competitive pro-rata salary, travel and other benefits, you will be set objectives that will stretch and enhance your skills. To support you in the delivery of these objectives, you will have regular meetings with your Line Manager, contact with a mentor and have regular catch-ups with a current graduate – acting as a buddy.

We will also offer some formal training along the way so that at the end of your internship, should you have done a great job, we may be in a position to offer you a place on one of next year's graduate programmes.

How will I be selected?

Following completion of your application you will be asked to complete our online tests. Then, if successful you will be invited to undertake a video interview.

Assessments will take place in March 2019, and if shortlisted, we will let you know in good time to make appropriate arrangements to attend.

Successful candidates will be starting on 10th June 2019.
