Engineering Manager (8977)

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our team in Dublin

As an Engineering Manager you will be able to demonstrate your engineering knowledge and understanding of engineering procedures, which includes RSA standards and Health and Safety Legislation and can demonstrate a proven history in both technical and people management.

You will have preferably gained this experience in the bus and coach industry, but this is not essential. We are looking for the right person to help drive our business forwards and so, if you are a proven manager, or have the right skill set and are looking for a new challenge, then we would like to hear from you.

The salary is open for discussion as we are seeking the right candidate to fulfil this role, who has the desired skills and attitude for this exciting and challenging role.

You will be responsible for the following duties:

  • The Depot Engineering Manager is accountable for all aspects of engineering performance for the depot. They will support their team in delivering excellent customer experience, whilst leading a governance agenda that supports legislative and policy compliance. This in turn will filter to delivering a safe and reliable service to the customer.
  • Working closely with third party contractors to ensure all work is carried out to the required standard and within agreed costs.
  • Ensure effective processes and robust plans are in place to maintain and safeguard company assets, including the fleet, plant and equipment, property and stock
  • Manage staff, other engineering and property related costs within budget
  • Maintain accurate records for all aspects of safety, environmental and engineering standards
  • Leverage technology, processes and business systems to improve engineering performance
  • Proactively manage trade union relationships, including supporting the negotiation of any changes to terms and conditions
  • Assist in the procurement of new vehicles
  • Work with operational colleagues to ensure good relationships are maintained between the Operations and Engineering teams
  • Ensure that controls are in place to manage and mitigate risk, providing assurance of compliance to the Operating Company Director.
  • Other duties commensurate with the role as may be deemed appropriate by the line manager

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following;

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • A team player, fully committed to working with colleagues to achieve the First Bus Strategy.
  • Ability to analyse data and understand financial information.
  • A confident communicator with strong interpersonal, influencing and coaching skills
  • A tough negotiator.  
  • Results-driven, with a “can-do” attitude and ability to get into the detail when necessary.
  • Knowledge of all relevant policy and legislation: including health, safety and environment.
  • Ability to embrace change with experience of Lean and 5s processes desirable.
