Your Development

Here, learning and development come in many shapes and forms. You’ll learn from experience, from team-building events, from each other and ‘in the classroom’. The training is rigorous and the roles can be tough. But rest assured that you’ll have the support of dedicated mentors as well as the Apprentice community. It all begins with a thorough induction into the company and a warm welcome to the team. What happens after that? Read on to find out…

Learning on-the-job

We think the best way to learn about our business is by being part of it. So you’ll develop your skills by working directly with colleagues across your organisation. Our Apprenticeships are designed to offer great experience, while meeting your needs and our business priorities. This unique blend of knowledge, skills and insight will stand you in good stead, whatever role you take once your programme’s ended.

Tailored development sessions

Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses. We’ll help you spot them and decide what to build on next. We’ll then make sure you get the opportunity to learn and boost the areas that you need to improve the most. It all revolves around you, and your particular skills and knowledge.

Vocational training

Whatever role you take on, we’ll help you to be the best. You’ll get a range of training that’s specific to your area and designed to boost your expertise.

Nationally recognised standards

With every Apprenticeship, you’ll have the chance to gain nationally recognised standards. We’ll support your studies and make sure they form a useful part of your wider training and development.

Beyond your Apprentice programme

And once you’ve completed the programme? What happens then?

We’ll help you find your first permanent role within the FirstGroup business. As you move into this role, we’ll encourage you to make the most of your mentor and draw on the partnership that you’ve built.

Whichever role you move into, your development won’t end with your programme. Everyone at FirstGroup has access to a wide range of training opportunities and workplace learning. This gives you the chance to make the biggest possible impact on the business’s success. And at the same time, it enhances your skills so you can keep moving in your career. With our great learning facilities, there’s always an opportunity to brush up your talents and learn some new ones.
