Recruitment Process Timeline

We want to make sure that joining the First family is right for you and that you’ve the skills and qualities we’re looking for. So, we’ve designed our recruitment process, so we can get to know more about each other and ensure we’re a good match.

It starts with:-

1. Application

Where you’ll click to search our current jobs and apply online for a specific role answering a series of questions along the way. Allow about 20 mins for your application.

2. Email alerts

Updates about how we’re progressing with your application will be emailed to you. So, remember to check your emails regularly and respond quickly to any requests, so you don’t miss out on any potential opportunities. You can also check the progress of your application by logging into your account.

3. Situational Judgement Test (SJTs)

This measurement methodology is designed to assess someone’s aptitude for employment and the professional attributes needed for a particular role. Our SJT presents 18 different situations you might experience in the job you’re applying for. And you’ll answer in a multiple choice format, choosing one of three scenarios for each question.

4. Telephone interview

If you impress with your online assessment, you may be asked to take part in a telephone interview. This is an opportunity for you to talk to someone in our team, ask any questions you may have and answer some questions that are relevant to the role you’ve applied for.

5. Assessment centre

If you’ve the skills and qualities we’re looking for, we’ll then invite you to come along to our assessment centre. You should allow a full day for your assessment and arrive in good time so we can start on time.

What can you expect? - We'll ask you to complete a range of tests designed to give us a better idea of your abilities. If time allows, we'll let you know your results on the day and what the next steps will be.
How should you prepare? - We’ll email you to confirm the assessment and for some roles we’ll also provide access to assessment Practice Materials. You must use these to prepare for your assessment and on the day you’ll be asked if you’ve received and used these materials.
What do you need to bring? - We may also ask you to bring some important bits of information. But we’ll confirm this in your email.

6. Interview

If you’re successful at our assessment centre, you’ll make it through to your first face-to-face meeting with us. Congratulations! We believe interviews should be a two way process. We’ll be able to find out more about you and ask some key competency based questions relevant to the role. While you’ll have the chance to ask any questions you may have and find out more about our business and the role.

To support you throughout our application process, we’ve put together some hints and tips to help you put together your application and prepare for an interview.

7. Medical

Depending on the role you have applied for, if you are successful you may be required to attend a medical assessment relevant to the role. This will be prior to a formal offer being made to you.
