Get to grips with great rewards
You can never underestimate the difference you’ll make as part of our team. You’ll make a positive impact on people’s lives from social inclusion to reducing traffic congestion to helping people go about their daily lives. If you think about it, you’ll also help to provide solutions for the big issues of the day like global warming and worldwide climate change. That feels good. And as we believe in recognising and rewarding great talent - our financial and professional benefits feel pretty good too.
Whether you join us as a commercial / operations or an engineering graduate, you’ll enjoy a really competitive starting salary of £26,000 including a welcome bonus of £1,500. And on top of this we offer a comprehensive benefits package.
My Benefits – We offer a whole range of valuable benefits, including free bus travel for you and eligible family members. After six months service, you’ll become eligible for significant discounted rail travel for you, your family and friends. Our First Xclusives package offers discounts from a large range of suppliers, from those you use every day, such as supermarkets, to electrical retailers and DIY stores for those larger purchases.
Our EmployeeCare employee assistance programme offers counselling, health and wellbeing advice and financial and legal information.
My Shares – Our popular Save As You Earn (SAYE) and Buy As You Earn (BAYE) offer you two great ways to buy shares and benefit from First’s success.
With SAYE you can save an agreed amount over three years, and have the option to buy FirstGroup plc shares at a pre-agreed price at the end of that time. With BAYE you buy FirstGroup plc shares every month out of your Gross pay, saving income tax and National Insurance, plus First gives you some free shares every month. BAYE is available after you’ve completed six months service.
My Pension – The First Pension Scheme enables you to build savings which will provide you with a pension. You can choose how much you want to save, and depending upon your service this determines how much the Company puts into your pension pot.
We’ll fund all of your comprehensive on and off-the-job training ranging from but not limited to; finance for non-finance managers, Intro to project management, Intro to coaching, commercial awareness, as well as your programme of continuous development throughout the two years.
You are entitled to 27 days annual leave and 6 bank holidays (depending on where you are based the bank holidays will differ).
